DESTINATION GUIDE · 2 OCTOBER 2026
What kind of trip is this?
Galaxyland Powered by Hasbro is an indoor amusement park on Level 1, Phase II of West Edmonton Mall, 8882 170 Street NW, Edmonton. The park lists beginner, intermediate and advanced rides, a climb and slide park, arcade games and a new roller coaster described as coming soon with no opening date. Ride requirements vary by ride.
The park is run by the mall, and the mall's own accessibility page is about the whole building. It is the only accessibility page we found, so much of this profile is about getting around the mall, with little about ride access itself.
This is our reading of official pages on one date, not a visitor review or a suitability rating. We have not visited for this profile.
Queues and ride access: nothing published
We found no accessibility pass, alternate entrance, return time, priority queue or disability discount described on the mall's accessibility page, the Galaxyland page, the Guest Services page or the tickets page. The accessibility page says to call Guest Services for help with accessibility. The Galaxyland rules say rides may open late or operate on an alternating basis and that waiting times may vary.
What that does and does not mean: "not published" is not the same as "not offered". The park may arrange something at the desk or at a ride that it has not written down. We cannot tell you either way. For the finder we class Galaxyland as having no published scheme, and we have not assumed one.
Planning advice: ask before you travel, in writing if you can, what Galaxyland can do about queues for your group, and note the answer and date.

Evidence
No document is asked for because no ride arrangement is described. The pages name no Blue Badge, no EU Disability Card, no UK document and no Canadian one. "Not named" is not the same as "refused": the park is silent. The only identity requirement we found is for mobility rentals, which need valid government-issued ID.

Travelling with companions
We found nothing on how many companions can travel with a guest who has a disability, on free admission for a carer, or on a disability ticket price. The tickets page we opened did not mention disability. Where the park sets height rules, it says smaller children may need to ride with a paid adult chaperone aged 18 or over, and in some cases a chaperone over 56 inches tall. That is a height rule, not an access arrangement.
The Playpark (Galaxyland Kids Playpark) is for children aged 12 and under, and the park says an adult aged 18 or over must supervise at all times.

Ride rules and restrictions
- Health: the rules ask guests to be free of significant health concerns, naming stress-related conditions such as heart problems or epilepsy, motion sickness, and back, neck or spinal injury. They say guests with casts, braces or other physical limitations may not be permitted to ride, and that expectant mothers should refrain from riding.
- Height and weight: minimum or maximum height and weight limits apply to some rides. The park refers guests to its park map and height requirements guide, which we could not open in readable form, so we give no ride-by-ride figures.
- Loose items: bags, phones and recording devices are not allowed on rides, and lockers can be rented. Anything dropped in a restricted area is only retrieved after closing. This matters if you ride with a medical device or communication aid; the park does not say how it handles those.
- Transfers, harnesses, prostheses: we found nothing on whether you must transfer from a wheelchair, which rides have accessible vehicles, or how prostheses are handled. Ask about each ride you care about.
- Playpark: it is a socks-only environment for all guests.
Planning advice: the park says to check each ride for requirements. Ask at Guest Services which rides suit your needs before you buy a wristband or pass.

Wheelchairs, scooters and walkers
- Rentals are at the Phase II Guest Services desk near the main Galaxyland entrance. Double scooters are picked up at The Ship, closest to Entrance 2.
- Single scooter: $49 plus GST per day and a $250 refundable deposit. Wheelchair and walker: no rental charge and a $50 refundable deposit. Prices as published on 2 October 2026.
- Bring valid government-issued ID. Equipment must be back before the mall closes. Unreturned or damaged equipment is charged to your credit card at full value.
- Rentals are first come, first served and limited. The page says you can reserve ahead online for an extra charge.
We found no statement on whether rented chairs or scooters can go on to Galaxyland ride queues, or on size and weight limits for scooters. Ask.

Toilets, care and quieter spaces
- Toilets: the mall says every restroom has wheelchair-accessible stalls. On Level 1 it lists restrooms inside Galaxyland near Entrance 8, near Entrance 48, in the Phase I food court near Entrance 14, in the Phase III food court beside NEWPLAY and in the Fantasyland Hotel lobby. On Level 2 they are near Entrances 23 and 45. The Galaxyland rules also say its restrooms are wheelchair accessible.
- Lifts and routes: lifts are near Entrances 2, 8, 32, 40, 50, 52, 56 and 58. The mall's 13 digital directories can show lift routes, and a wheelchair icon lowers the screen content. All entrances have ramps and push-to-open switches.
- Changing Places or adult changing: we found no mention of an adult changing bench, hoist or Changing Places toilet. Do not assume one exists. Ask Guest Services.
- Quiet space and sensory information: none published. The pages give no quiet room, noise or lighting guidance for Galaxyland.

Medication, oxygen and allergies
We found nothing on carrying or storing medication, oxygen equipment, first aid inside Galaxyland, food allergies or allergen information on the pages we opened. The Galaxyland page has a concessions page that we did not read. Ask Guest Services before you travel.

Service animals
The mall permits service animals in all general areas, and only animals trained to assist people with disabilities are allowed in the mall. Within attractions it depends on the attraction type, and the page does not say which rides. A service animal must be on a leash no longer than 2 metres and under the handler's control at all times.
We found no mention of assistance dogs from outside Canada, of UK assistance dog documentation, or of a relief area. Ask the mall.

Arrival and parking
Accessible parking is at each entrance and level, and lots 48, 50 and 58 have the most accessible spaces. Expecting Mothers and Family parking is at most entrances, and the page lists lots with the most stalls. For oversized vehicles, call Mall Security on 780-444-4444 before arriving. The mall is about 36 km from Edmonton International Airport and about 12 km from downtown, by the mall's own estimate.
Uncertain: the pages do not say what permit is needed for accessible spaces, whether an Alberta placard, a UK Blue Badge or another foreign permit is accepted, or whether there is a charge. Ask before you travel.

Without a car
The West Edmonton Mall Transit Centre is beside the overflow parking lot on 90 Avenue, and the mall points to Edmonton Transit Service for routes. Dedicated Accessible Transit Service (DATS) stops are at Entrances 8, 32, 48, 50, 52 and 58. The mall refers you to the DATS website for service information; we did not open it and do not say who can use DATS. See getting to theme parks with assistance for general questions to ask.

Fantasyland Hotel
The Galaxyland page says Fantasyland Hotel is connected to the mall. The hotel page we opened lists room types but says nothing about accessible rooms, roll-in showers or adjoining rooms, so we make no claim about them. Ask the hotel directly.

Shaping a day
This is planning advice, not something the park publishes.
- Before you travel: ask Guest Services about queues, ride suitability, changing facilities and quiet space, and reserve any mobility equipment you need.
- On arrival: find the Phase II Guest Services desk, the nearest lift and the Galaxyland restrooms near Entrance 8.
- Check ride requirements on the day, and ask staff about any ride you are unsure of before you queue.
- The mall is large, so plan rests and decide your entrance in advance.
Nearby alternatives
We have no verified accessibility information for other attractions in or near the mall, so we name none. See Beyond the parks for general ideas.
Questions still worth asking
We could not establish these from the park's pages. Ask before you rely on any of them:
- Is there any queue arrangement for guests who cannot wait in line, and does it need evidence?
- Are UK or EU documents, or an assistance dog card from abroad, accepted for anything?
- How many companions can come, and is a carer's admission discounted or free?
- Which rides can be used from a wheelchair, or need a transfer, and what is the policy for prostheses and harnesses?
- Is there a Changing Places toilet or adult changing bench, and where?
- Is there a quiet space, and is sensory information available?
- Can medication, oxygen or special-diet food be brought in and stored?
- Which permits are accepted for accessible parking, including foreign ones?
- Which rides allow service animals?
- Does Fantasyland Hotel have accessible rooms?
